Projects
1. Women's Democratic Network Project
The Project would address the political parties and sister organizations because they are the most effective opinion builders. This intervention will improve their attitudes, policies, programmes, implementations and monitoring mechanisms about the participation of women, indigenous communities and dalits in the parties and governments. In this process, the parties would emerge stronger for enhancing the peoples' rights. <
2. Urban Water and Sanitation Project (WSSP)
RSN is implementing Belbari and Itahari Small Town WSSPs (Morang and Sunsari). The Belbari Project covers wards 1-4 and Itahari Project covers entire municipality, and VDCs Ekamba-4 and Hansposa-1. The two projects serve a total of 10,313 households (Poulation 53,133).
RSN prepares the socio-economic profiles, develops water users association, conducts PACs, trains on HHE for target group and institutions, facilities mainstreaming of urban poor and women.
DWSS and AsDB provide financial support for the above.
3. Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Programme (RWSSP)
With the financial support of Fund Board and Community Based Water Supply and Sanitation Project (CBWSSP), RSN is implementing rural water supply and sanitation projects in Parsa, Pyuthan, Dolakha, Rolpa, Rukum, Humla and Jajarkot districts.
RWSS-FDBs: Total districts 3 (Parsa, Dolakha and Pyuthan), projects 21, VDCs 14, families 2,724, population 16,193.
CBWSSP: Total districts 4 (Roplpa, Rukum, Jajarkot and Humla); projects 14; VDCs 11; Under this project, RSN works in partnership with local NGOs.
4. Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF)
RSN is implementing PAF in Pyuthan' 4-VDCs to reduce poverty among the socially excluded and vulnerable communities through developments of infrastructure, income generation, skills, resources and institutions. RSN has formed 21COs of deprived communities to serve 1,000 families (Target 3,000 families in 3-years) through IGAs and infrastructure schemes.
5. Education Programme
The non-formal education (NFE) programme served through: ALC and follow-ups for 10,703 women; OSP I &d II helped 3,372 children for primary level literacy skills and IGA support to parents; and community library serves 5,000 students, teachers and peasants.
6. Resource and Environment Management (REM)
The REM activities undertaken are: (i) Water sources protecting through a forestation, conserving flora and fauna, river training; (ii) Rehabilitation of Thutekhola Small Irrigation project; (ii) Wetland Management Project; and (iv) Research: Energy Policy and Economic Growth in Nepal: A CGE Analysis.
7. Saving Credit and Co-operative Operations
The saving and credit groups and co-operative organizations have aimed to raise economic status of women, peasants, ethnics and dalits since 1994. As of December 2007, saving and credit groups formed are 550 nos (covering 7,900 families) in different project areas; and five co-operatives, a swine breeding farm and a mini-dairy plant in Parsa.
